Their rainy wedding day story at Burlap & Bells

Valerie and Brandon always knew they wanted a non-traditional wedding and to be married in a tree grove. So when they stumbled across Burlap & Bells for their wedding they just knew this was the place they were going to get married. This place was perfect for this couple that knew they wanted a stress-free day, surrounded by nature and a large space for themselves and their guests to really celebrate together.

As with any wedding or event though, there are always some unknowns and last minute things that pop up. This day was no exception – the forecast called for rain, and rain it did. Now rain isn’t usually a huge deal as everyone can bring an umbrella or handle a sprinkle here and there for a few minutes during the ceremony, but this was an actual flash flood situation. After essentially doing cocktail hour before the ceremony to try and wait out the heaviest parts of the storm, they eventually made the call to head down to the tree grove and get married. So, guests put on their ponchos, grabbed an umbrella and watched these two brave the storm, smiling ear-to-ear, fully drenched in warm summer rain. It was truly inspirational – they embraced the day as it was and remained excited, happy and full of love the entire time.

After that it was time to celebrate! Them and their guests all headed back to the pavilion, ate, drank, toasted, danced and even threw some frisbees until it started raining again.

Everyone braved this rainy wedding like it was just part of the whole experience – nobody grumbled, complained or even seemed overly stressed about the weather. The focus was on them, not the rain. These two were truly celebrated this day – it may not have been the most ideal to contend with so much rain on their wedding day, but it was about Val + Brandon’s union in marriage and in life. If they can “brave the storm” so to speak on their special day with smiles on their faces and stoke in their hearts, it's very telling for what's to come I think!

Keep an eye out Spring 2022 for their feature in Wisconsin Bride Magazine!! And in the meantime, check out their Burlap and Bells photos below!
