Kara + Jake’s Iceland Engagement

Part 1

So Iceland in July ended up being the perfect time to visit. It was still pretty ‘warm’ (for a nordic country anyway) and we got to experience the epic sunsets that seem to last for hours! For those that may not know, Iceland is situated along the arctic circle, so in the summer months they experience what’s known as the midnight sun - which is pretty great for photographers chasing the best light and folks that like long adventures!!

Kara & Jake have been dating since they met as freshmen in college and HOLY FREAKING HECK- they ended up getting engaged in ICELAND, the day before this shoot! I mean, Jake really nailed it with the timing, amirite?! Not only did they get to sip wine and do some natural bath/hot tub soaks, but they also had one hell of a two day engagement adventure with us to celebrate!!

When in the Land of Fire & Ice, we obviously needed to peek some basalt columns and spy some rock formations at the iconic black sand beach in Iceland, which is about a 2.5 hour drive from Reykjavík. It was insanely epic watching these two being so damn connected - from al those smitten newly engaged vibes - while exploring the caves, lava rocks and ocean scenes!!!
